Yunel Escobar PR nightmare brings Jays PR season nightmare to whole new level
Yunel Escobar put a gay/lesbian slur on his eye black and is one of worst events in Jays history up there with the Alex Rios set to with a kid at the science center and Robbie Alomar spitting on umpire John Hirschbeck at the Skydome (now Rogers Centre) and it did not happen as a Jay but played against the Jays and was integral part of the Jay franchise and ended up going into the hall of fame with the Jays.
Yunel Escobar got three games for the mistake and he should of been suspended for the rest of the season and if he plays again at the Rogers Centre he would be heckled relentlessly and will want to hide and will want to leave for the rest of the season and it would huge PR nightmare for the Jays if he is back next season. He will be making 5 million dollars and will the Jays will need to eat a bit of contract to get him out of here with a couple of club option and it will be a mess.
This is just the cherry on the top of a PR nightmare sundae which started with going out and trying to Yu Darvish and did not get him but it raised the expectation of the Jays in the free agent market and did not get anyone and it turned ugly for Alex Anthopoulos who people turned on quickly for not getting the job done and not raising the team budget. Then the Brett Lawrie helmet throwing incident that caused a it strom in T.O. and brought the Jays temper issues to the surface. Then 60 year-old man died at the Rogers Centre of a heartache when it took to long to get the game stop so they could get the golf cart onto the field so they could get the guy get out of the stadium. Then on September 4 they decided to open the roof during the game and then it started to rain ans they could not close the roof and it pour a lot and the mound was a mess and then they were unable to close the roof and then the fire alarms going off and it became a what are u think moment. Then we do not know what John Farrell is thinking and have really no clue to figure out where he is going to manage next season between the Red Soxs or the Jays and the fans are split on if they want to stay or go.
There's always next year
