Jays bats flat line as they match a season low in hits
The Jays could only mustard two hits in a 3-2 to loss to the M's and if it was not for Colby Rasmus picking up the only walking off starter Kevin Milwood just before Edwin Encarnacion unloaded a monster shot in the fourth inning to put a huge dent into the 3-0 lead the M's had coming into the at bat. They got both their hits in the inning as Adam Lind was able to get a two out single but J.P. was not able to keep the inning alive he strike out swinging.
Kevin Milwood was able to retire the first 10 batters he faced before the walk and then retired the last 4 batters he faced as he gave up two runs on two hits through 5 innings with 3 ks and set the stage as their bullpen did not give up a hit but did walk two.
Ricky Romero battled as he gave up 3 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks in 4 plus innings and really did battle himself as much as the M's and his down fall was the fourth inning as before the fourth the only damage was a solo homer to Miguel Olivo. In the fourth he got first two batters outs in 10 pitches and then walked the nine hitter Brendan Ryan on five pitches and the M's turned their order over and lead-off hitter Dustin Ackley and the hit of the game was Franklin Gutierrez's two-run single.
Ricky Romero after the Jays fight back throw 7 straight balls and Jesus Montero walked and on a 3-1 pitch Canadian and BC native Michael Saunders hit a ball hard through the infield and that was it for Romero and the bullpen starting with former Steve Delabar came in and got three ks to get out of the inning without any extra damage even though he walked the bases loaded in the process. Romero was not happy again leaving the game and did not look at Farrell as he left but in the end it was a good choice getting him out when he did because it looked like he was ready to give it all back to the M's. The bullpen did only give up one hit and kept the Jays in fighting distance but still added 3 walks as the Jays really did not control the zone as they walked 7 all told.
Kyle Seager picked up three more of the M's hits ans is 6 for 10 this series and has been a Jays killer all season which is just one of those mysteries that a .250 batter can have a team's # like this.
So it is idol Vs admirer as King Felix goes up against Henderson Alvarez
