Dan Shulman is the new voice of the Toronto Blue Jays

Dan Shulman will be doing 30 mid week blue jays games with sportsnet TV and will be joined by Buck Martinez, Pat Tabler, or both. It will be great especially for people who are disgusted with Buck and Pat as Dan will liven up the booth and will bring more baseball knowledge. He will continue to do ESPN Sunday night baseball and he will also continue NCAA basketball (which will not conflict with each other). Dan did Jays games with Buck (1995-2000) and Pat (2001) and he will bring new excitement to the broadcast which will be good because the Jays on field product maybe a lot less exciting in 2016 than 2015. Dan will also being calling games on grass at Rogers centre during 2017 when grass is put in 2017 (another 30 games). It is nice to see Dan back on Canadian TV broadcasting a Canadian team and hopefully next will be seeing Dan Shulman broadcasting Toronto Raptors games. It is nice to see Dan back apart of we the north Tom Mehegan

Jays rolling the dice on the closer position

It is a very sad day for me as I got to find out that Casey Janssen and his 84 saves over the last three seasons has left the Blue Jays for an one season contract of 3.5 mil with the Washington Nationals and mutual option for another season for 7 mil with a buyout of 1.5 mil. So Jays can not beater than a 5 mil guaranteed and have decided to pull relievers out of the sky to close for the Blue Jays this season and it looks like they have not learned from mistakes like Frank Francisco, Jon Rauch, Francisco Cordero, and Sergio Santos who have failed miserably at the task. So the number 1 candidate should be Arron Sanchez who was pushed into the closer position late last season and was 3 for 3 in save opportunities while Janssen was demoted to the bullpen bench for a week at a time and then put into games in non-save opportunities and was not good but most closers are not good when the game is not in their hands. Then Alex Anthopoulos comes on Sportsnet 590 with Bob McCown and Ken Reid and said that Janssen got what they expected him to get and that they really did not hard into bringing him back. Then he felt long-term Arron Sanchez would be a starter and that it was Brett Cecil job to lose but that they were still looking for bullpen arms with the 5-6 mil left in the Rogers budget. So in the end bring in a guy like Josh Donaldson for Brett Lawrie+++, Russell Martin to manage the pitching staff, and Michael Sanders replaces Melky Cabrera (another head scratching non-signing) and it could get u through 8 but then blow up in your face in the ninth with a guy (Cecil) who cracked under the pressure of being a starter and now put into the toughest spot for a pitcher which is as a closer. If that does not work they can bring in the future (Arron Sanchez) and if that does not work he may be broken and not able to be put back together. So in the end closers do not fall from the sky they are special breed that can take that ball at the end of a game with music blaring with the crowd yelling and screaming for u to get the job done and that's at home while much worth happens on the road. Casey Janssen had prove he could get the job done and loved the pressure and it would not of taking a lot to keep him the fold especially if they had treated him like the pro that he is. I will wait and see and will not buy a ticket to a Jays game until someone can seal the deal and close out victories and that usually is not a game or two that is 15 on a yearly basis. It is sad to see Janssen go and even sadder that the Nationals are not coming to town Tom Mehegan
