Brandon Morrow sets the tone and Lawre breaks out
Brandon Morrow set the tone for the Jays tonight throwing a 4 hitter over seven inning and did also walked 3 Yanks on his way to helping the Jays shutout the Yanks 6-0 and the most surprising was that Anthony Gose not going after a ball off the bat of Russell Martin got booed in the top of the second louder than Yunel Escobar stepping up to the plate in the bottom of the first inning as it looks like the whole Yunel thing is forgotten. It was simply weird to have Yunel Escobar be given a Mulligan for putting something hateful on his eye black towards gays/lesbians and it just goes by the waste side and the now becomes with him now more focused at the plate going 4 for 8 in Tampa and then going 3 for 14 in Baltimore it will be interesting to see how management will handle him in the off0season as Adeiny Hechavarria is on a 9 game hitting streak 9 for 28 and average of .345 over that time and is now batting .259 after hitting under a buck for a long time.
Ivan Nova one out the third had k'd 3 in a row but then he walked the number 9 hitter Anthony Gose which is a baseball sin at any level and lead-off hitter Brett Lwrie made him pay on very next pitch a nice get me over fastball that he launched for his tenth homer of the season and gave the Jays a 2-0 lead. In the fifth Edwin Encaracion with two on and one out cracked a two-run double to make it 4-0 and then got a RBI ground out with one out in the seventh and J.P. launched his 18Th homer of the season a solo shot in the eighth.
The top of the order had 7 hits and 5 of the Jays 6 RBIs and it started with Brett Lawrie and Colby Rasmus both picked up two and Edwin had a three hit night. Also J.P. continue his hot hitting with two more hits to go with his 7 for 9 trip to Baltimore including a slam for good measure and lets hope Lawrie bat comes around as well so they have something to work on in the off season.
Anthony Gose also had the loudest cheer as well as he robbed Nick Swisher of a big hit with one on as Gose grabbed the ball at the wall and doubled up the runner at first in the fourth
