Ricky Romero mysterious summer continues

Ricky Romero maybe having a great summer away from the ball park (who really knows) but his summer pitching has been a mystery he was 7-2 coming into the summer and one his first game in the summer and after that has lost 11 straight decisions and can come unglued very easily. Today he pitched an inning plus and gave up 7 runs on 8 hits and a walk and it was not the inning that was the problem as gave up a lead off single to Desmond Jennings and with two outs Evan Longoria doubled him home and the Rays were up 1-0 and that is somewhat expected. The thing that is not expected is Ricky Romero facing 7 batters in the second inning not getting a single out which is mind blowing and is almost as unexpected as Ben Francisco hitting a homer to lead off the second inning and was very close to smashing a three-run shot in the third. With it 4-0 after Jose Molina and Desmond Jenningshad RBI singles it ended up being Ben Zobrist was the one to send the frustrated and confused Ricky Romero to the showers with a two-run single to make it 6-0 on their way to a 9-4 victory. Chad Jenkins eat up 5 innings for the Jays and did give up a homer to Carlos Pena to lead off the third along with two runs on 7 hits and was no able to get a 1-2-3 inning as the Rays had a runner on base every inning but did battle and made it possible to not have use a lot of arms and actually it only took three as Arron Laffy pitched the last three innings and gave up 3 hits and two walks while he k'd 3. The Rays had 15 different batters in the game and 13 of them had at least 1 of their 18 hits with Desmond Jennings having three of them and Ben Francisco had a 2 for 4 day with a double to go with his homer and a walk for good measure while joining Zobrist with two RBIs in the game. The Rays send Mr. Popcorn himself to the mound to day as David Price loves the Rogers Centre popcorn as much as he does pitching at the Rogers Centre as he is now 6-0 as he gave up two runs on four hits and walked 4 while hitting Colby Rasmus and k'd 5. He walked three in the second after waiting so long for that 6 run inning to be over for the Rays and had given up only 3 hits in the first 6 innings but the 7 inning it was Popcorn time as he gave up three hits and two runs while walking one and only getting two out with the crushing blow being a ground ball RBI single by Adam Lind back to David Price on his last pitch which came right after an Edwin Encarnacion sac fly RBI. Edwin Encarnacion padded his stats in the ninth with his 37th homer a two-run shot off Cesar Ramos with two outs and gives him now 95 RBIs on the season Tom Mehegan
