Blue Jays - 9-12 - Jake Shield one batters Ricky Romero as Romero throws one pitch that he would want back

The Blue Jays got beat by Jake Shields and the Rays 2-0 as Rickey Romero throw a 1 out on a 0-2 pitch down the line and narrowly getting into the bullpen by Ben Zobrist for the only 2 runs scored during the game and Romero gave up a double to start the second inning and left him there and he continued to pitch well for 7 innings.

Ricky Romero gave up 5 hits and a walk over 7 innings and it was just that one 0-2 pitch that decided the game and he struck out 10 batters and he got out 18 of the last 21 batters he faced and deserved a much better fate than a 2-0 loss.

The reason why Ricky Romero and his good game was on the wrong end of the result was because of Rays starting pitcher who had his second straight complete game as he gave up 4 hits and 2 walks along with 7 Ks in his 9 innings and he got some timely pitches to keep the Jays off the score board and the Jays were not able to put hits together and now the Jays have 3 players at or below a toonie with Cory Patterson hitting .200, Travis Snider hitting .167, and Juan Rivera hitting .137 so hitting needs to get better.

The game came down to the bottom of the 9 inning when Jose Bautista walked and then Adam Lind who came in with 5 homers against Jake Shields in his career came to the plate but flied out and went 0-for-4 today. Then Jake Shields picked off Bautista off at first base and finally Juan Rivera pop out to end the game and send the 14 thousand + fans home with a 2-3 losing home stand and now have to go on the road for another 10 game road trip.

So tomorrow Kyle Drabek will be pitching in front of family and friends in Arlington Texas and will be facing the hottest hitting ball club in the majors as he will face the Rangers and the Jays need something to get on a roll and put the beginning of the season behind them and get some of the excitement that the team has lost since the opening series against the Twins.

So I think can do it and the bats are going to a hitter friendly ballpark
