Two interesting observations coming out of this 8-1 loss to the Boston Red Soxs and those are one that Jesse Litsch needs to a lot more head strong as in the second inning Jed Lowrie hits a ball to left fielder Juan Rivera and everybody is half assing it on the play as everybody seems to thing it is a foul ball so when it comes back into play (the wind may have had something to do with it) it caught Rivera napping as it drops in and it catches Lowrie asleep as he ends up only at first as he jugged down the baseline. So it is a man on first with 1 out and then Litsch proceeds to give up three more hits in a row ending with a 3 run jack by Jacoby Ellsbury and he looked to lose his focus to make it 4-1 Red Soxs with the Jays getting a gift run as Juan Rivera is caught in a run down between first and second as Arron Hill scored in the top of the inning. Then in the 6 inning with 2 outs Ortiz gets a single and I think OK lets get the next batter out and move but then Jayson Nix bobbles a ground ball which he had way more time than he thought as the hitter Jed Lowrie again jogged down to first so U have first and second with 2 outs and then J.D. Drew walks to load the bases where Jarrod Saltalamacchia singled and cleared the bases but only 2 score as Drew is caught down at the plate. So if Litsch could just move on after a mistake and refocus he would of had a great outing as he got 13 straight batters out around these fielding mistakes and he gave up 6 of his 7 hits in his 6 innings pitched.
The second thing is that the Jays have lost their timely hitting the last couple of games as they are still hitting extremely poor but now they just do not put the timely hits together ans today Jon Lester was there for the taken as they had runners on base with 6 hits in his 6 innings and just not able to get that timely to drive the run with two outs and hit into double plays or get caught napping. As Travis Snider gets caught off first base as Jun Rivera lines a ball right at Dustin Pederoia and gets doubled up Gonzalez first move is to the bag to caught Pedroia's throw to double up Snider and with Jayson Nix stealing second with two outs and the hottest blue jays hitter coming into the series Yanul Escobar at the plate and he strikes out and has a single hit in the first 3 games of the series.
The Jays have Rickey Romero Vs Daisuke Matsuzaka and Daisuke 0-2 with a 12.86 so far this season
