Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier on this day (April 15) in the year 1947 so it is the 64th anniversary of this very important in Baseball history so today all the players on every teams 25-man roaster and coaches all were wearing the number 42 in his honor.
To start the game with 1 out and 2 on Adam Lind came to the plate and on a 1-1 curve ball he hits long, he deep, he hits out of here and the Jays are up 3-0 but wait under further review it is called foul and Lind grounds out. Then in the bottom of the second inning Brett Cecil walked 2 around a fielding error by Travis Snider and it is bases loaded with 2 out and Cecil strikes out Jabocy Ellsbury to end the inning. Then in the bottom of the third inning Brett Cecil gave up his 2 hits in the game and the first one was by Dustin Pedroia who a homer to Left field and after a walk to Adrian Gonzalez where Kevin Youkilis got the other hit which was hit to deep center field for 2 run blast to make it 3-0. Brett Cecil throw 6 pitches in 1-2-3 inning in the fourth and then in the top of the 5 with 2 outs with 2 walks on Cory Patterson came to the plate and cleared the bases with a triple to make it 3-2 Red Soxs and then Brett Cecil throw 8 pitches for another 1-2-3 inning and then with 2 outs in the top of 6 inning with Adam Lind on third Travis doubled him in to tie game up @ 3. In the bottom of the 6 inning Brett Cecil throw 10 pitches for another 1-2-3 inning and then in the top 7 inning Bobby Jenks came in and throw blow up the game real good as he got one out as he gave up 4 earn runs on 4 hits, 1 walk, and a wild pitch as the Jays stole 3 bases in the inning as Jose Bautista singled home Jayson Nix to give the Jays the lead and then Bautista got wild pitched in and finally Adam Lind singled in by Arron Hill. To start the bottom of the 7 inning Jason Frasor came in and gave up a hit and a stolen base but no runs and it was 7-3 Blue Jays going into the bottom of the 8 inning.
So the bottom of the 8 innings got wild and wacky as Marc Rzepczynski came in and let the Red Sox back into the game as he walks Kevin Youkilis and David Oritz with 1 out then strikes out J.D. Drew and then pinch hitter Jed Lowrie singles to third base and Kevin Youkilis scores and then Casey Jenssen comes into to face Marco Scutaro who doubles to clear the bases and make it 7-6 but Jabocy Ellsbury flied to Bautista. In the 9 inning Jon Rauch came in and dealt the Red Soxs a final blow as he set them down 1-2-3 for his third save of the season.
The Pitchers tonight must of been listening to Walk this way by Run DMC as Red Soxs starter Clay Buchholtz walked 5 batters and bullpen added 2 more to make 7 walks by Red Soxs pitchers and Brett Cecil walked 4 batters and the bullpen walk 2 batters so the Jays pitchers walked 6 which gives us a grand total of 13 walks in the game and there was a total of 13 hits in the game (8 for the Jays and 5 for Red Sox). The big problem for Cecil was that the hits he gave up both went yard which hurts but to go into Fenway and take game 1 is important so the result was as good as it gets.
Go Jays Go
