Jose Bautista loved the rain delay but the pitchers did not
After two hour rain delay Jose Bautista's bat came alive not once but twice as hit a solo shot in the first inning and again in the sixth inning as now has 9 homers @ target field in Minnesota in 9 games. Eric Thames also went yard for the Jays in the sixth inning as he hit a two-run homer and Edwin Encarnacion hit his 11th homer of the season in the eighth as the Jays hit 4 long balls in the game but the Jays still lost 7-6.
If it was a good hitting night after the rain delay then it diffidently was not for the pitchers as moths were buzzing everywhere during the game and it affected the pitchers especially Kyle Drabek who loaded the bases on walks in the first and then Ryan Doumit got the first Twins which was a two run RBI single and was able to get out of the inning with no more damage. He settled down as he gave up a walk in the second and then Denard Span barely missed a home run before getting a single and then in the fifth inning it came undone as the Drabek allowed a double to Denard Span and then Carlos Villenuva came in and walked three including walking in a run in a four run inning that at the time gave the twins a 6-2 lead. After the Jays had their 3 run sixth it was a RBI single by Darin Mastroianni in the seventh that made the difference in the game as Eric Thames had a rough fielding inning which started with a fly ball out in left field and the lead-off walk (as the Jays walked 9 batters) moved up to second as Thames was paying attention which set up Darin Mastroianni single to Thames who throw the ball wide of the plate to make it impossible for J.P. to get the runner.
It was a tough game for Drabek as he is the first Jays pitcher this season to not at least finish the fifth inning and he battled throwing 109 pitches and 61 for strikes over 4.1 and gave up 3 runs on four hits and had 5 Ks to go with 4 walks in the game but if the Twins got more hits in the first or second it could of been a very short outing. So Drabek next start will be very important against the Yankees as he lost his last four starts.
Brett Lawrie had a moth jump down his jersey while he was batting and still got a hit as he had 3 in the game
