Jays fell behind and could not recover to win five in a row

With Henderson Alvarez on the mound for the Jays they fell behind in the first inning as Alvarez allowed the first three batters to reach base and David Wright finished it off with a two-run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead and then got three straight outs except that on a Kirk Nieuwenhuis sinking line drive that Rasmus made a web jam catch but relaxed his glove and the ball fell to the turf for a RBI double as he needed to transfer ball to his bare hand to signal the out and it was the difference in the 6-5 Mets victory. In the bottom of the first against Dillon Gee Kelly Johnson doubled and Yunel Escobar walked but then Bautista, Encarnacion, and J.P. were unable to move the runners over and even get a run and it happened again in the ninth when Yunel Escobar and Bautista singled but Frank Francisco stuck out Encarnacion, J.P., and Thames swinging in a row to end the game and give Francisco getting his 10th save of the season. After Alvarez gave up another run in the second he then retired 7 in a row and gave up a double bit it was stranded at second but in the fifth as the first 6 batters reached base including Daniel Murphy had a RBI single and Ike Davis RBI ground out into a force out and it gave the Mets a 6-2 lead. Bautista had RBI single in the seventh to get the Jays within 3 and it went with his third inning lead-off homer and the Jays got two more runs in the eighth with Eric Thames getting a RBI double and Colby Rasmus getting an RBI single to get them with in a run. The Jays just could not get thr hit with a runner in scoring position and it changes a 5 game win streak and a 5-2 home stand and instead had an OK 4-3 home stand and it was not getting one of the games against the Rays that cost them huge especially against David Price and now need to go into Tampa and get a win or two from the Rays. It was a good time at the ticket office as they had more than 100,000 fans in the stands for the three-game series and the bobble head crazy kept going as over 40,000 tried to get the 20,000 bobble heads Tom Mehegan
