Adam Lind error was extremely costly in a game they should of had
So the Jays even with all their errors is season 31 coming into tonight's game the Jays had only 8 unearned runs off those errors and tonight Adam Lind added two more to the account and his fifth inning error where he missed played the ball and Matt Joyce slide into first base with one outs and it gave the Rays a 2-1 lead as Ben Zobrist scored from second. The next batter Carlos Pena struck out and Zobrist should off been left at third but the the Rays got back-to-back two-run hits from Luke Scott who had a single and Sean Rodriguez who had a double so the end result was Jays came into the fifth with a 1-0 lead and went to the bottom of the inning down 6-1 behind five unearned runs off Adam Lind's second error of the game.
It was not the only part of the game that Lind had serious affect to the game as in his first at bat of the game in the first inning he hit a ball off the leg of Rays starter Jeff Niemann's leg and was able to finish the inning with two runners in scoring position when Edwin Encarnacion ground out to Will Rhymes at second. The effect of the ball off his leg did not allow him to warm-up to start the second inning and it was the best chance the Jays would have until the ninth inning except for two walks that lead to a Kelly Johnson RBI single off Cesar Ramos who was the winning pitcher in the second inning for their only run in a 7-1 loss. The Rays bullpen pitched 8 innings and between the third and the ninth they gave up only a single and two walk with Wade Davis pitching two innings and only gave up a walk who was followed by J.P. Howell and Burke Badenhop pitched perfect innings and Jake McGee finished off the ninth inning and gave up a single and a walk and the Jays ended up with no extra base hits off the six Rays pitchers.
Brandon Morrow went into the fifth inning given up 4 walks and 6 Ks and in the fifth inning he gave up four hit and another walk so he was unhittable going into the fifth and except for Kelly Johnson who had two of the Jays four hits the Jays could not take advantage of the 6 walks the Rays gave up either.
Now David Price vs Henderson Alvarez in the finale of the series tomorrow
