Ricky Romero almost completely grounds Angels as the Jays win another in ten

Ricky Romero grounded the Angels as he had 19 ground ball outs compared to 2 fly ball outs to go with 3 ground ball singles and 5Ks over his 9 innings made up 27 of his 32 batters so he most complete ground the Angels and it was his no walk game in while. The only enemy he had tonight was the long ball because of those 5 balls hit into the outfield 2 of them found the seats for homers as Torii Hunter hit his 21st homer of the season to lead off the second inning and he also had one of the two fly ball outs along with a fly ball single so he ended up hitting 3 of the 5 balls into the outfield and had two of the six hits of Romero tonight. Mark Trumbo hit the other homer to lead off the fifth his 28th of the season and Vernon Wells had the other fly ball out against Romero and Romero went 9 innings given up 2 runs on 6 hits with 5Ks and left with a no decision as the Jays could only muster up 2 runs of their own on a J.P. two run single in the fourth and was the only hit with runners in scoring position in the game as they went 1 for 11. The only real Angel threat was in the top of the tenth inning when Vernon Wells doubled to open the inning and after a Peter Bourjos sac bunt moved him to third Casey Janssen got a timely strike out of Erick Aybar followed by another ground ball by Alberto Callaspo to a charging Brett Lawrie who throws to first for the third out of the inning. Then in the bottom of the inning Mike McCoy starts the inning reaching on a throwing error to Erick Aybar who throw the ball past the first baseman and Eric Thames singled a ground ball through the infield. McCoy moved to third on a ground ball by Bautista and Thames was force out at second so with runners on the corners Adam Lind stepped up and hit the ball on the ground to Torii Hunter who was the five infielder and was between first and second and he throw wildly home drawing catcher Jeff Mathis away from home plate and his dive attempt at tagging McCoy came late. The Jays have now won all 10 games in extra innings at home and have 13 walk off victories this season and are now 12-4 in extras this season.
