The 2011 season has finally ended and they ended on a winning note picking up 2 in the ninth from a 2-1 defect off Chi Sox closer Chris Sale as load the bases with one out by intentionally walking J.P. and then just kept by walking in the tying run Mark Teahen walked and then walked in the eventual winning run by walking Adam Loewen and the Jays won 3-2 with Frank Francisco recording his 17 save of the season. So the Jays got on the board first with an Eric Thames double that scored a Mike McCoy walk in the first and the Sox tied it up in the fourth on a Gordon Beckham solo homer his tenth and in the fifth the Soxs took the lead as Alejandro De Aza single and Alexei Ramirez doubled him home to give the Soxs a 2-1 lead.
In his final start of the 2011 season Brandon Morrow was all over the place as he walked 5 batters to go with his 5 hits he gave up to go with his 7Ks and the two earned runs over sixth innings help bring down his ERA to 4.72 and he ended with 11 wins this season a career high. The bullpen of Casey Janssen, Shawn Camp, and Frank Francisco pitched a inning piece and put together 2 hit shutout over three innings. The Chi Soxs starter was Philip Humber and he pitched 6.2 inning and gave up 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks compared to 9Ks and Matt Thornton pitched 1.1 inning of shutout ball striking out a batter.
Double A says he will be busy during the off-season and should be mixing some better veteran players to give the Jays the chance to better themselves which may include a veteran Shortstop and a better back catcher because Molina did not care about playing defense. They need to add a veteran pitcher with a good pedigree to help the young pitchers become better and strength the bullpen and try and find a shutdown closer which will be hard to do.
The Jays will need to be better at home and it will be better for the home attendance as the Jays has an average attendance of just over 22K because I do not know how much the TV ratings is worth to them because they are losing money with just over 1.8 million fans coming to see the Jays @ the Rogers Centre.
