The Jays take early lead but then the Yankees outfielders were magic along with Nova

So with the first three Blue Jay batters reaching base it was looking like Ivan Nova who was looking for a 10 game win streak it looked like the Jays would get something off him but instead the Yankees outfielders defense were the ones to step up and take control of the game as Adam Lind hit a dying duck to Brett Gardner who made a sliding catch and a second run scored as Lind had a Sac fly and Jose Bautista had a RBI single. Then Edwin Encarnacion hit a ball into the left field corner but Gardner made another diving catch and doubled up Bautista at first as he had thought that it was going to drop and if he got a jump he would score and the Jays had a 2-0 lead but then over the next 6 innings Nova allowed three Jays to reach base as Eric Thames had a second hit a double in the sixth after which Bautista was intentionally walked and the only other Jay to reach with Nova on the mound was Mike McCoy who reached base on a fielding error by Derek Jeter and he also was the only one to get a hit off the Yankees bullpen. It from not getting contact on the ball but instead it was the Yankees outfielders as Jose Bautista rocketed out to right field and it had the distance but not the height as Andrew Jones took number 40 as from Bautista leading off the fourth and in the fifth Brett Gardner was back and this time he robbed Brett Lawrie of a hit.

The Jays had Brandon Morrow on the mound and it was not the Rogers Centre and it was also night time so it looked like Morrow would be in his element tonight and it was looking good early as he retired the first five Yankees he faced and K'd three of them but then he walked his first of three Yankees in his 6 innings as he walked Eric Chavez but Andrew Jones grounded out no damage. In the the third he walked Canadian Russell Martin to open the inning and with one out Brett Gardner was at it again as he made Morrow pay in spades as he launched his sixth homer of the season to tie the game at 2 and then Derek Jeter reached on a Yunel Escobar throwing error and it got Yunel Escobar so hot that the home plate umpire changed his call that he almost got tossed and then in between innings Jose Bautista and Luis Rivera (who has replaced John Farrell in the dugout and will stay in the dugout until the Jays return home on labor day) talked to Escobar and got him to come down. Then in the bottom of the fifth inning Derek Jeter singled and moved to second on Morrow's third and final walk to that slugger Curtis Granderson (like this season of Bautista) and then home run derby winner Robinson Cano collected a RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 win with Rivera coming in for the ninth and picking up his 37th save of the season. Brandon Morrow pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits while walking 3 and K'd 8 and he had difficulty with the patient Yankees hitters as he throw 116 pitches and 70 for strikes while Ivan Nova is saving the Yankees bacon with 10 straight wins and a 15-4 record and has made up for another sub par season by that 500 pitcher A.J. Burnett as he pitched 7 innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and K'd 4 Jays tonight.

Ricky Romero needs to put his best foot forward just like his last visit to the BIG APPLE
