When Kelly Shoppach bunted to Shawn Camp in a 2-2 game and he throw to Brett Lawrie stepped on third and throw to Kelly Johnson at first to get Shoppach and then Kelly Johnson throw back to third but Brett Lawrie caught to far away from the base and had to dive for Sean Rodriguez and he was safe by a second (then scored on a Elliot Johnson RBI single to break the tie) the Jays were that close to getting a triple play. There was a lot of talk between Brett Lawrie and Adam Lind after the play because it was that close and if Brett Lawrie had been more aware at third for the return throw and was closer to the bag they could of had a triple play or kept Rodriduez at second.
B.J. had a monster shot in the sixth inning and it was reviewed by the umpires and it ruled foul and it was a monster shot because it was higher than the foul pole and then on the next pitch he was hit by a pitch by Shawn Camp. So then Upton came back up again in the seventh and this time he faced Jesse Litch and for the first time out of the bullpen Litsch was wild as he walked two straight batters with a K on either side of them and then Upton took him deep on his pitch of the game for a three run shot to give the Rays a 6-2 lead.
The Jays made a come back as Brett Lawrie lead off with a triple and J.P. drove him in with a ground out and then in the eighth inning Eric Thames lead off the inning with a nine pitch at bat against Jake McGee and took him deep for his 9th homer and then with two out Juan Cruz came into the game against Edwin Encarnacion and he took him deep for a solo shot and his 14th homer to make it 6-5. Then Joel Peralta came in and J. P., Dwayne Wise, and Yanul Escobar hit him hard but right to Rays outfielders and the Rays won 6-5.
Luis Perez pitch well enough to keep the Jays in the game as he left with a 2-2 tie after five with Sean Rodriduez hit a two-run ground rule double in the fourth to take the lead 2-1 as Jose Bautista had a RBI double to open the scoring in the first but that was it for the Jays in the first even though there were only one out but after Lind put runners on the corners Encarnacion pop out and Kelly Johnson grounded out to Rays pitcher Jeff Niemann. Perez got out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth as he struck out Ben Zobrist on his 90th and last pitch he throw for his fourth strike out of the game and he end up given up 2 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks including an intentionally walk to Evan Longoria to load the bases in the fifth while Jeff Niemann pitched 6.1 innings and gave up 3 on 5 hits with 2 walks and 6Ks.
Eric Thames had 2 hits in the game while J.P. had two RBIs included and RBI ground rule double and now the Jays need to have Brandon Morrow help to get back on the right track again and the bats need to come alive
