Adam Lind hit his 100th homer in the majors in style as he torched Jared Weaver in the fifth inning for a grand slam to cement the Jays victory @ the time 7-1 and later in the inning Canadian Mark Teahen who replaced Jose Bautista, who got the day off after the nightmare of a game last night, hit his first homer as a Jay which was followed by a ball hit by the more famous Canadian Brett Lawrie that looked like it had a chance to go out and probably one of the first times in major league history that Canadian born players go back to back but Lawrie still ended up with a triple. Jared Weaver was the opposite of the guy we meet at the beginning of the season in Anaheim were we basically could not buy a hit as today he was rocked by Edwin Enarnacion in the first inning which was a two-run shot and Encarnacion's 11th of the season, in the fifth he gave up the big shot to Lind, and on his last pitched he throw Wells just turned and watched Teahen take him deep as he gave up 8 runs on 8 hits with 2 walks along with 3Ks in 4.2 innings pitched as the Jays went on to a 11-2 white washing of the Angels.
Ricky Romero on the other hand started quick throwing 3 of the first 4 pitches to start the game as he retired Maicer Izturis with a ground ball but then he throw 10 straight balls as he walked the next two batters and J.P. had been out to visit and that did not work so when he fell behind 2 and 0 to clean up hitter Mark Trumbo the pitching coach came for a visit and that did the trick as Romero throw a strike and then got Trumbo to ground out into a double play with the very next pitch to end the inning as Romero throw 11 balls and 5 strikes in the first inning. After that Ricky Romero showed the Angels over the next 6 innings why he was named player of the week for the American League instead of the Angels's Santana as he did not give up a hit until the lead off batter in the fifth Alberto Callaspo crushed a ball for his 5 homer of the season and after former Blue Jay Howard Kendrick got a single off him he went through the order again and retired all the Angels in order. So Ricky Romero ended up pitching 7 innings and gave up 1 run on 2 hits with 2 walks and 3Ks along with a very strange hit by pitch of Jeff Mathis to open the third inning that was call by the third base umpire after Mike Scioscia came out to argue that it was a hit by pitch as Jeff Mathis was selling for all he was worth.
Adam Lind as had a chance for another grand slam in the sixth inning and he ended up with a sac fly to give him 5 RBIs in the game as the Jays took a commanding lead with three more runs in the inning as J.P. had a RBI single along with Edwin Encarnacion who had 3 RBIs in the game and is now hitting a remarkable .285.
It was a good move after the nightmare of last night to give Bautista the day off as he will use it to good use while Rasmus is still a little here and there so it dies not hurt to give him a day off as well
