Zack Steward did something that no pitcher had in the prior 7 games and that was flame out and he flamed out big time as in 3.2 innings pitched and gave up 10 hits and 3 walks and he gave up 5 earned runs and in the third inning Steward gave up a homer to Brian McCann which was his 12th on the season and it was 2 run shot and it helped the Braves win 5-1. They also got a run in the first inning when Chipper Jones got a sac fly and got another run in the third inning Alex Gonzalez had a RBI double and finally another run Jason Heyward and then in the last 4.1 innings the Blue Jays bullpen had an one hit shutout with Marc Rzepczynski pitched 2.1 innings and retired all 7 batters he faced and then Jason Frasor pitched the seventh inning and went 1-2-3 against the Braves and then Octavio Dotel pitched the eighth inning and faced 4 batters and got the 3 outs. The Bullpen has turned it around recently and it is a good sign hopefully for a while and is because of the great starting pitching performances in the past 7 games coming into this one.
The Jays offense did score first in the first inning when Cory Patterson got a double and with 2 outs Adam Lind got a RBI single to open the game and later got another single later in the game. Then the Atlanta starter Mike Minor pitched another six innings and only gave up 3 hits and gave up a walk and struck out 8 batters and then Eric O'Flaherty pitched the eighth inning and went 1-2-3 through the Jays lineup and then Jonny Venters went through the Jays lineup 1-2-3 in the ninth inning.
Looking at the last 6 games the Blue Jays are 2-4 and have 9 walks and 52 Ks and with the two Blue Jays players born on October 19, 1980 are having a real big rough patch with Rajai Davis hitting 4 for his last 51 which is a batting average of 080 since June 5 and Jose Bautista in his 19 games in June he has 2 extra base hit which are a homer and a double and Jays will need both to try it around especially Bautista.
Jo Jo Reyes will make a start against his former team and will try to help the Jays avoid a sweep
