So Jose Bautista starting tomorrow will start to practice at third base and will be the third baseman soon for the next little bit as Edwin Encarnacion is a liability at third while both Johnny Mac and Jayson Nix are way to weak with the bat and so is Mike McCoy. It really has shown while playing without a DH that basically hitting with 6 batters right now the Jays can not put together enough hits to put up the run to win the game. This is because Rajai Davis is in a huge slump hitting like 080 right now (batting 7th), the third base mix are hitting less than 200 almost all season with little pop in the bat (batting 8th), and the pitchers know how to make the other team not get hits but have no real experience with a bat in their hands (hitting 9th in the order).
So to add some pop and average to the lineup the Mike McCoy passport has been sent back do to Las Vegas again and in exchange the Jays have called up Eric Thames who can play in the outfield when Bautista starts at third in a few games and it opens a spot for Travis Snider when he is ready but sadly he was hit in the helmet with a baseball and was hitting 19 for 39 which is very close to 500 and his on-base was 535 with a homer, 7 doubles, a triple with 4 RBIs along with 3 walks and 5 Ks in his last 10 games in Las Vegas going into last Friday. Also Bautista may just be at third for a couple of weeks as just after the all - star break the Jays are hoping that Brett Lawrie will be ready to make major league debut.
Change can be good
