So Jo Jo Reyes had 9 pitch 3 up/3 down inning in the first inning and then a 8 pitch only given up a double by Carl Crawford but it is second and more importantly the third that hurt as in the second he walked Kevin Youkilis but would of been out of the inning throwing if someone in the infield convention in foul ground over by third base had caught the foul ball as there were 3 infielder were there and then had to throw 8 extra pitches including a fielding error on Arron Hill. In the third inning Jarrod Saltalamacchia opened up the inning with a gapper and Bautista slide but missed it and then Jacoby Ellsbury had a ground rule double to make it second and third with no outs and then Dustin Pedroia had a infield hit to Mike McCoy that opened the scoring and making it 1-0 but thankfully Adrian Gonzalez ground into a double play which still scored a run and made it 2-0 and Jo Jo throw 42 pitches over those two innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning Cory Patterson and Jose Bautista both singled to open the inning and Juan Rivera had a sac fly which was bookend by strike outs by Adam Lind and J.P. so the Jays only got a single run and still trailed 2-1. In the fifth with one out Bautista dove for a Jacoby Ellsbury line drive but missed it and Dustin Pedroia walked and then both Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Youkilis singled through the infield to score a run to make it 4-1 after 5 innings. In the sixth the Jays had to on for Juan Rivera with two outs and he flied out to end the inning and the seventh they did one better by having first and third with one out but a John Farrell head scratched of Edwin Encarnacion pitch hitting for Jayson Nix as he is not a good batter and he had to come in and play third and we know what happen in that situation and he still made it worst by striking out and not even getting a fly ball to score Hill from third and Mike McCoy fouled out to first to end the inning without a run scoring. In the ninth the Red soxs got soft singles by Ellsbury to Encarnacion and Pedroia to pitcher Shawn Camp and then Gonzalez had a RBI ground rule double to make it 5-1 and as the Jays after a Cory Patterson single Red Soxs retired the final 6 batters to end the game.
So the Jays did not have their best defense tonight and if you are going to beat the Bosoxs U can not give them extra at bats and the Jays were 0 for 7 with runners in scoring positionand Clay Buchholz throw a 3 hitter over 7 innings given up only one run while walking 2 and striking out 6 batters. Jo Jo Reyes pitched 6.1 innings given up 8 hits and 4 runs but some of the hits could be turned into outs along with 2 walks and 3 Ks but Luis Perez pitched 1.2 inning of hit less ball to allow the Jays the chance to make a comeback.
The 28,588 was some of the loudest fans I've heard at a Jays game this season with Lackey Vs Morrow in the middle game and lets see if the Jays can even the weekend series
