Yunel Escobar had a four hit game to beat the Yanks
Yunel Escobar who has been one of the few healthy Jays all season but had been struggling hitting in the .240's and had been on the trade block at the end of July came through with a four hit game to carry the Jays to a series win against the Yanks 8-5. Escobar was 4 of 5 with three doubles and a homer and collected 5 RBIs in the game and it started in the third with the Yanks up 2-0 heading into the inning and the Jays came up with three unearned runs off CC Sabathia thanks to Jayson Nix's error where he left an Adeiny Hechavarria ground ball on the ground and Escobar came up third straight two out hit to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the inning Rajai missed read the ball off the bat of Curtis Granderson and started in for the ball and then realized the ball was hit harder and moved back for it but it went over his head for a two-run double and he would later bobble a ball that would not cost the Jays.
Yunel Escobar crushed a ball off in the sixth inning with a runner on and Ichiro did not move back to even try to get it because it was that smoked and it gave the Jays a 5-4 lead and then the Jays and Yanks put up a run in the eighth as Escobar scored on a Jeff Mathis sac bunt and then Brandon Lyon gave up back to doubles to open the inning and Russell Martin was good friends with the third base and the ball hit the bag and it scored the Yanks run. Escobar had his third double in the ninth inning with the bases loaded against Joba Chamberlain and he drove home two more runs and Casey Janssen had a clean ninth for his 17th save.
J.A. Happ is dueling with best pitchers in baseball as he has pitched against Yu Darvish, Justin Verlander, and now C.C. Sabathia and it may off not of been his best outing but he still was able to keep the Jays in a game against Sabathia. The sore part of his outing was him walking 5 against the tough Yanks batters (one intentional) and did not look good after the second inning after striking out the side and he went into the club house and got fixed up and lasted 5 innings and almost 100 pitches but 5 walks and 6 ks will do that to pitchers. In the end he only gave up 4 hits leading to 4 runs and the two run mistake by Rajai did cost him but it was not credited as an error but should of been.
C.C. Sabathia went 7 and gave up 5 runs but on 2 earned on 9 hits and a walk to go with his 8 ks and Granderson ended up with 3 RBIs with a RBI ground out.
Kelly Johnson had two much needed hits and Adam Lind continues his return with two more hits
