The Blue Jays are unable break through the Shields

Colby Rasmus was 2 for 3 with a walk in the game and a solo homer in the fourth and a walk against James Shields and tallied the only run in a 4-1 loss against the Rays and Shields went 8 innings and throw 116 pitches in the game and gave up 2 hits and a walk along with a hit batter to go with 6ks. James Shield 67 strikes and 49 balls and really never was in trouble and retired 11 of his last 13 batters he faced including a double play in the seventh to erase Yunel Escobar being hit by a pitch. Fernando Rodney had a pretty easy ninth inning as he retired Edwin Encarnacion and Yunel Escobar on ground balls after Rasmus got a single with one out with only real problem was being questioned by the home plate ump on wiping his forehead and then touching the ball when he needed to wipe on his Jersey before touching the ball. In his first start J.A. Happ got unlucky as in the second when he gave up soft two hits to Ryan Roberts out if the reach of Edwin Encarnacion down the line behind first base and Moses Sierra had get it and it turned into a double and then a looper off the bat of Sean Rodriguez over Kelly Johnson's head scores the first run of the game. In the third Desmond Jennings lead off the inning softly lined a ball right in front of Colby Rasmus and then a ground-rule double from B. J. Upton and Ben Zobrist walked to load the bases and then the harder hit balls off the bats of Evan Longoria and Jeff Keppinger for sac flies to put up a 3-0 lead. Happ gave up solid doubles in the fifth to Desmond Jennings and Ben Zobrist and he ended up given up 4 runs on 7 hits with a walk and 5ks but should of been in better shape as the Rays just hit his pitches perfectly. The Jays had two firsts in the game as Adeiny Hechavarria got his first major league hit in the third a single and Chad Jenkins struck out the first major league batter he faced Ryan Roberts and he pitched a 3 innings shutout and gave up two hits as k'd two and did not walk anyone Tom Mehegan
