Blue Jays give up more walks than hits in another loss
So the Jays came into this game against with a four game losing streak and had only scored 7 runs on 23 hits over that streak and tonight the Jays out hit the A's 10-7 and that is three more than the next highest total in the last 5 games now but still fell to the A's 4-1 given up 8 walks in the game. They had their chance through out the game with David Cooper flying out to CoCo Crisp in center with runners on first and second in the fourth while Rajai Davis went a step further as he had bases loaded in the sixth right after he lost another ball and this time it was in the lights (# night game) and ground out softly to first base to Brandon Moss who stepped on the bag and just kept running all the way to the dugout. Then still not on the board in the ninth with a Cooper double and Rajai single putting runners on the corners with no outs the kids are unable to come through as Yan Gomez struck out swinging and Moises Sierra hit a double play ball that if he was not so darn fast it would been game over so with a run in Brett Lawrie singled which brought up Colby Rasmus as the tying run but he grounded out to second to end the game.
So Henderson Alvarez was looking good as he had only allowed a walk and a single through two innings with his new battery mat Yan Gomez behind the plate but when he gave up a lead off hitter in the third to the nine hitter Eric Sogard he lost his composer as he through a wild pitch that got past Gomez the runner moved into second and with one out Seth Smith singled him home. Then Josh Reddick came and smashed a two-run homer as the A's took a 3-0 lead and collected 3 of their 4 hits off Alvarez in the inning. Alvarez in the fifth after Rajai Davis lost the ball in the lights and CoCo Crisp ended up on third base with no outs and after he fielded his position perfectly off a ball hit to him by Seth Smith he then walked the three and four hitters but got Brandon Moss to hit into an inning ending double play and walked the first and last batter he faced in the sixth for his fifth walk. He went 5 plus innings and gave up 3 runs on four hits and walked 5 (one intentional) and just showed not a lot pose on the mound in the third inning while J.A. Happ finished seventh and eighth given up a run on 2 hits with 2 walks and 4 ks.
Bartolo Colon pitched eight innings for the A's and allowed no runs on 7 singles with 3 ks and a walk and he gave up two singles to Colby Rasmus, Edwin Encarnacion, and Yunel Escobar with the other going to Anthony Gose.
It will be a tough couple of month for Jays fans
