Henderson Alvarez has nightmare of a fifth inning
Going into the fifth inning the Jays were in control 2-0 with a two out RBI single by Yunel Escobar scoring Rajai Davis in the first and in the third Rajai Davis doubled to lead off the inning and stole third and was driven home by a Mike McCoy RBI ground out. The reason the Jays were in control in the game was because of Henderson Alvarez who through four had faced 14 batters and thrown only 42 pitches and had given up two singles and was charged with an error and had a double play ball behind him as well. That all changed in the fifth inning and he was a pitch away with two outs in the inning with a runner on first and second but that is where the nightmare began as he gave up two more singles to Alejandro De Aza and former Jay Dwayne Wise who both collected RBIs. Then Alvarez began to sweat during the nightmare as it all came down to him as with enemy No. 1 Alex Rios at the plate Alvarez stepped off the mound looked quickly at third and throw wildly to first as David Cooper jumped for it but the throw was too high and De Aza scored the winning run in a 3-2 Chisoxs victory while Rios ended up being k'd to end the inning. Henderson Alvarez throw 23 of his 84 pitches and he gave up 3 (2 earned) on 7 hits with no walks and 2ks but did have two throwing errors as he gave up only one more single over his last two innings and ended up with 13 ground balls to two fly balls and pitched very well in the game.
The Jays got 8 hits in 6.2 off Jose Quintana but did not score a run after the third and had their chance with fifth as Edwin Encarnacion was up with one out and the bases juiced and he scotched a ball right to Kevin Youkilis at third who doubled up Rajai at second to the inning. In the seventh with two on and two out Edwin stepped up to the plate and out to De Aza and in the ninth with Colby Rasmus coming off the bench and collecting a single with one out and if Mike McCoy was able to come through with a two out hit Edwin would of had his third shot at bringing in the tying run at least but Chisox closer Addison Reed got McCoy to fly out to Alex Rios to end the game.
Since ripping Rajai Davis a new one he has come out with a very hot bat and no fielding blunders in a couple of days as he had a 3 for 4 night and scored both Jay's runs
