David Pauley is the Blue Jays white flag
David Pauley came into the game with the Royals up 6-3 with no outs in the seventh and runners on second and third and he got ahead of Billy Butler 0 and 2 and after Butler fouled off four straight pitches he then hits the guy going to the all-star game instead of Edwin Encarnacion to load the bases. With the bases juiced he allowed a RBI single by Yuniesky Betancourt and then with the bases still juiced he gave up a grand slam to Mike Moustakas to make the final 11-3 and he finished the game retiring 9 of the last 10 batters he faced.
Ricky Romero was good for the first 6 batters and only allowed a single as he throw 15 of his 20 pitches for strikes and he struck out the first two batters in the second but the Jeff Francoeur walked and Ricky really unrivaled as he gave up a two-run homer to Salvador Perez. Then in the third he allowed two RBI doubles to Yuniesky Betancourt and Mike Moustakas and in the fourth he gave up two singles around a double and Alex Gordon single drove in a run and a wild pitch by Ricky Romero brought in another run. He gave up two runs in the second, third, and fourth and then again in the seventh as he was charged with 8 runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out four and throw 49 of his last 84 for strikes but they were not very well positioned strikes and they were being hit really really hard.
The Jays had 6 hits in the game and 5 of them from the fab 4 with Lawrie getting a double to lead off the game for the Jays as they had Royals starter Everett Teaford who had not lasted longer than 5 innings in his 5 starts this season and after Lawrie Rasmus had a sac fly to move his to third and Bautista walked while Encarnacion was hit by a pitch to load the bases and he had thrown 10 pitches and the two strikes were hit properly. Then Yunel Escobar came to the plate and grounded out on a 1-2 pitch and then on the first pitch Kelly Johnson got he hit right to Alex Gorden in left field to end the inning. From then on the Jays could scatter 5 hits over his other six innings and just could not square up his pitches to have any kind of rally in the game as Bautista had two hits including a solo homer in the third and Edwin followed that up with his hit a single but get anywhere close to home as Escobar ended the inning while Colby Rasmus hit his solo homer in the fifth.
Jays need some pitching help but will they get some that is the question
