Jays can not battle back from a five run second inning
After the Blue Jays took a 1-0 in the top of the second inning ehen Edwin Encarnacion took Yovani Gallardo deep to Center field and then in the bottom of the inning with Joel Carreno on the mound fell apart as he gave up 5 runs on four hits and a walk. Bernie Brewer was a very busy mascot in the inning with one out as he got to go down his slide three times as Corey Hart hit a solo shot, Martin Maldonado hit a two-run shot, and Carlos Gomez finished off the inning with another two-run shot and the Jays were unable to come back from this deficit and fell down hard 8-3. Joel Carreno who took a red eye from Arizona and got the first four Brewer hitters and k'd two of them and then he allowed 5 of the next 6 batters to reach base and the Jays really need the day off tomorrow.
The Jays had their chances in the top of the seventh with two outs the Jays got a David Cooper single and Brett Lawrie walked and then off Yovani Gallardo Colby Rasmus doubled home Cooper but the concern was Lawrie going forst to third on the double and after he got up he grabbed the back of the third base coach behind his left leg to indicate that he hurt his left hamstring. Then Tim Dillard came in and walked Bautista and hit Encarnacion to walk in the Lawrie who left the game and it was 6-3 and Kelly Johnson came up as the go ahead run but struck out on three straight pitches.
The Brewers had 12 hits in the game with Martin Maldonado having a three hit game along with Ryan Braun and both also had a two-run homer in the game.
The Jays are heading to south beach to take on the Marlins and maybe welcomed tomorrow by the NBA championship trophy
