Jays bats not able to recover from Alvarez's start
Jays used the long ball to get back in the game after Henderson Alvarez who had a different starting point in the mound he was on the left side of the rubber instead of the right but the results stayed the same as he gave up two runs on 3 hits in the first that erased Brett Lawrie lead-off homer to start the game. Usually after rhe first inning Alvarez settles down but tonight his second inning was even worst as with runners on the corners and one out Norichika Aoki back to him and he had it go under his glove when he tried to make a play to home before he had the ball and then he walked Nyjer Morgan to get to last season's NL MVP Ryan Braun but thankfully Brett Lawrie came up with fielding gem diving for a ball and then diving for third base to get the second out. Then Henderson Alvarez gave up a two run double to Aramis Ramirez to make it 6-1 after two innings and he throw 47 pitches through the first two innings as he gave up four hits and a walk in the second and gave up 4 runs and struggled through four innings given up 6 runs on 11 hits and two walks and could not get anything right so lets hope the new positioning works the next time out like it did for Morrow earlier this season.
The Jays had their opportunity in the third as they had bases loaded with no outs but Edwin Encarnacion hit into a double play and the Jays were only able to pickup a single run against Brewers starter Randy Wolf in the inning but then he lead-off the sixth with a homer by hitting the Brewer homer slide and it was 6-3. Then Jose Bautista hit a three-run homer in the seventh and took Henderson off the hook but with Robert Coello on the mound Aramis Ramirez on a 1-0 pitch leading off the bottom of the inning flirted with the left field foul pole 344 feet away from home plate and originally it was called foul but it was reviewed and the right call was made and Brewer was able to his plunge as it was a homer.
The Brewers brought in Simcoe, Ontario Native John Axford and he was dealing tonight as he got a fly out to center field by Kelly Johnson and fly out to left field by Colby Rasmus sandwiched around a strike out of Langley, BC native Brett Lawrie to leave Jose Bautista on deck and Encarnacion in the hole as the Brewers take game one 7-6.
