Ricky Romero pitched great to win a series against the Red Soxs
Ricky Romero took into the ninth inning and ended up out pitching John Lester to win the series against the Red Soxs in a 3-1 victory and Sergio Santos came in with a runners on first and second with one out and he struck out Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz grounded out to Yunel Escobar to end the game for his first save as a Jay.
The Boston Red Soxs scored the first run in the top of the third as Ricky Romero gave up all three of his hits and gave up his only run as Jacoby Ellsbury had a RBI single but the came back hard in the bottom of third as John Lester gave up single to Eric Thames which was followed by a triple to Rajai Davis who then scored on a Yunel Escobar sac fly to give the Jays a 2-1 lead and Lester did not give up another hit until the eighth inning. Then in the eighth inning Rajai Davis walked and then stole second and scored on a Yunel Escobar single to give the Jays some breathing room.
It was an ace vs ace classic with Ricky Romero wanted to win the series and bounce back from a four inning start in Cleveland and he did not give anything between the fourth and the ninth inning and ended up given up a single run on 3 hits and two walks to go with 5Ks and throw 104 pitches with over 60% strikes (63s-41b).
John Lester kept the Red Soxs in the game and tried to get them back on the right track and he had a complete game three hitter and throw 116 pitches and 63.8% strikes and he just did not get the offense he needed to win and only gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and two walks.
The Jays have won the first two series
