Desperate Jays get Melky
So Jays went out in search of a left fielder and were desperate enough to sign Melky Cabrera to a two year/16 million deal who missed the last 50 games of the regular season for the world series champion San Francisco Giants because he caught red handed with a PED in his body.
So it looks like the Jays have signed a proven PED user to a deal which smacks of a desperate move and how gaping a hole the Jays feel they have but on the other side of things going into the last 50 games he would of gotten at least 16 million a season and probably 5 or 6 seasons at least. So it is like a 2 for 1 pizza as the Jays are paying him for one season before the suspension and is getting 2 seasons instead of one season.
So instead of having Anthony Gose or Rajai Davis in left field they have gone to a guy who before the 2011 season he did not hit over .280 and did get more than 73 RBIs. In the last two season he hit over .300 with .305 with KC in 2011 and in 2012 .346 in 113 games with 18 HR and 11 HR in respectable seasons but he been consistent with 20 plus doubles in 6 of 7 seasons in the majors with a high of 44 in 2011.
He is with his fifth team in 5 seasons and has a fielding% in left field .988 and maybe will be good but it is a bite of a risk
