Welcome to my Toronto Blue Jays blog
Today Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos found a sucker to pick-up Vernon Wells's contract O I meant a trading partner to want the very talented Wells at least in even numbered season as his last good odd number season was in his rookie season in 2003 and wait this is a odd number season so he will most likely have some injury or will have trouble getting adjusted to the California Angels of Anaheim. Also the Angels fans will love him sitting on the bench in a couple of seasons making 86 million over next 4 years and the Angels will be lucky to get maybe one good year out of the 32-year-old Center fielder and the jays are ahead of the game just by getting rid of his contract because now he will be getting 20 mil this season and 21 mil next season while 22 mil in 2013 and finishes the contract with 23 mil in 2014. Then the Jays get a first baseman/catcher in Mike Napoli who can split time with J.P. Arencibia @ catcher and fill in @ first time to time with maybe Adam Lind maybe being the first baseman this season and Juan Rivera could fill in the out field maybe center and Batista in RF again or someone else maybe in center and Batista could be at third base this season. With Mike Napoli making 3.6 mil this season and Juan Rivera making 4.25 mil this season the Blue Jays are saving money so maybe they can get a solid center fielder or a bigger bat @ first as Overbay is finally no longer @ first and both players are coming off down seasons so maybe they will bounce back like hopefully Adam Lind and Arron Hill will as they did not hit the ball as well as they had the year before. While Napoli has a scary k total over the last 2 season with over a 100 in each season with 103 and 137 k's respectfully and does not take a walk with 40 and 42 in the last 2 seasons respectfully and his best total was his rookie season with 52 walks in 2006.
I will be back when something happens in Jays land

I can't believe it either, Tom! No disrespect to Wells (he was a good Blue Jay for years), but the GM of the Angels must have his head up his ass. Seriously, when you look at how Wells hit away from Rogers Centre last year versus on the road, I wouldn't be shocked if Napoli alone is more productive. Plus, as you say, he's due for another bad year. Anyway, even if they'd gotten nothing for him, it would have been good for the team to dump his contract, but to get two guys who are useful (check out Napoli's splits; he kills lefties at .397 OBA career), it gravy. Alex the Greek is well on his way...doing a good job setting the foundation. Now let's hope he can work out a good contract with BOW-teesta...and that Lowrie kid better turn into something special as well. Great job with your blogs, by the way. I've been reading since Christmas but haven't had a Google account til now, so couldn't comment. I always check out your run down of the Raptors game, especially if I missed it myself. Keep up the good work!
